Some other fun options I came up with that didn’t quite make the cut but I still loved them!

Branding for Salt and Light hair was so much fun because it was in allignment with my own style right now. When a client and a designer are a perfect match magic happens and everything about the project ends up being so inspiring. I love working on dream team projects like this because I feel so creatively fulfilled. That is why I do this for a job, because it lets me use my creativity and imagination in creating a cohesive end result. I seriously love creating and it drives my passion for design and thus a huge circle just keeps going round and round and more amazingness comes out.

Amanda wanted something light and airy with a boho feel and some more earthy tones. The name of her company says it all and the color palette she picked really exudes the essence of salt and light. She is incredibly talented and her site is so beautiful!

I love fro’s, I actually love all things hair and since I have a ton of it I like to try new things. Last summer I did my hair in these tiny sponge curlers and when I took them out it was quite a site to see, tiny ringlets made up a HUGE fro on my head. I was a little nervous to walk around in public but I soon embraced it and pretended I was a white, freckled version of Beyonce.

Recently I posted a pic and an amazing photographer Amanda Henderickson wanted to do a sort of maternity shoot with the fro (thats its name). Of course I jumped at the opportunity to do it again and we set a date for this 70’s inspo shoot. The best part is that Harper’s Bazaar just posted how perms are coming back in style so I couldn’t think of a more perfect time to let out my inner Foxy Brown and strut my baby bump. The dress is from ASOS but was rented to me by The Dress Collective, a shop that literally has every dress you could imagine for rent. I was excited to do the collab with them because of their fashion forward style and the fact that renting a dress is soooo much less expensive than buying it for a few hour photoshoot.

I thought because I love my fro so much and although perms are great, I don’t want my hair like that forever so I would share how and what I used in order to do the 3 day fro.

1.First I went to Sally’s Beauty Supply and bought a few bags of the cheapest, smallest black sponge rollers they had (I think it was about $7). I ended up using 45 total rollers for my whole head and my hair is pretty thick and down to the middle of my back so that should help you with figure out the amount that you will need for your hair.

2. Then I showered and combed through my hair dividing it into three sections. I then split my rollers into three groups to pace myself, with the largest for the top section of my head since that is the most important.

3. I sprayed a light layer of hairspray over the section and then began to take small peices and roll them away from my face.

4. I waited all day for them to dry. The first time I did it, I slept in them and it was a terrible night so I decided to just let it go all day.

5. I used the blow dryer at the end before I took them out just to make sure the roots were dry.

6. Take the bottom ones out first and unravel them down instead of pull them so they don’t get tangled. Then pull each peice apart into small strands to give it volume and individual curls.

My hair didn’t need hairspray or anything it was just huge and amazing, but you can use bobby pins to pin chunks in certain places that look uneaven or didn’t curl as well, especially after day one. This style lasts for several days and is really hard to get out. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO BRUSH IT. Make sure you deep condition it before you shower and then plan on conditioning it several times in the shower. I didn’t notice any damage after I washed and I was careful when I combed it after the shower so it worked out amazingly.

There’s nothin like a girls night when you have been working a ton and need something pretty and fun to do. A few talented friends and I decided to do a little pretty party for ourselves and why not invite a photographer along. We wanted to make this night a night full of pretty things and the color palette clearly shows just that. The berry tones with touches of mint made for a springy and rich setting.

We made italian sodas and ate macarons while we caught up on eachothers gossip. With beautiful desserts full of color from Flour & Flourish to the amazing florals that decorated the tables by Amber Reverie, this girls night was a complete success.

Using my home in Utah as our location seemed perfect because of the openness and natural light. We used natural wood furnishings to help off-set the bold color palette and added a fun cowhide rug for texture. With a little help from Target we got the perfect pillows to adorn the sofa finishing the room off.

Dressing up and getting our makeup done by professional makeup artist Sarah Burton prepped us for our B.F.F shots and of course we had to take a “girls night” selfie.

The watercolor floral invitations were designed using a fun die-cut styled envelop and the matching table cards added for a nice detail to the tablescape. To top the night off we made a free print for anyone trying to get ready for their own girls night. Check out the link below!

resolution

Well I think its about time for me to put up my new years resolutions. This has been a bit harder this year because I felt like I put WAY too much pressure on myself last year and therefore ended up feeling overwhelmed and a bit like a failure. That is definitely not my intentions this year. I want to keep it simple and not get bogged down by being an overachiever and changing the world. Although that is my goal in the long run, one year is quite a short amount of time to do everything on my bucket list. This year I have set a few fun and emotionally beneficial goals for myself.

1. To be satisfied. This last year I developed the syndrome of nothing ever being perfect enough. This caused many headaches and even more tears of disappointment. I learned that maybe some people are perfect but I am not one of them and therefore I need to live like a normal person.

2. Be open to new people and experiences. This goal is to help improve my opportunities for things I love to do. I want to build strong relationships with creative people who see the way I do as well as collaborate and make pretty things of course. And thats it! Life is good and I move into my new house next week so I couldn’t be any happier than I am now!

When I love something I love it and this Tee is the bomb! I am feeling really frumpy lately and I always was oversized tees to make me feel comfy and cool. I thought this outfit was fun because it has a bit of funk with some dressed up class. Gold pumps from Dorothy Perkins, story cialis that I purchased in Londontown on my last visit are one of my favourite dress up bits. Pairing with some shiny black jeans from Zara also add a bit of dress up to this otherwise extremely casual shirt. The great thing about graphic tops are they can really be worn with any style. Woohoo for oversized  tees!

Well if you haven’t noticed the color of the year is EVERYWHERE! to be honest I have never really liked purple but the fact that I did two purple weddings last year really opened me up to using the color. Just in time right. Well I wanted to do a post of the beautiful pantone, radiant orchid and have a little inspiration board of some of the items I have seen around in that glorious color. I think this song is perfect for this color, it kind of makes me think about when I was a little girl, loving pretty things like purple hair and petals.
